James McGuire

Quantity Surveyor

Having started as a trainee in 2015, James has worked his way up to the level of Quantity Surveyor and joined Kent Construction Consultants in October 2020 after graduating from the University of Greenwich in the summer with a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying.

James has recently started the Professional Review for CIOB chartership and hopes to gain RICS chartership with the Practice.

James now has 6 years of experience in the field and has varied experience but in particular, groundworks, drainage and residential development infrastructure, as well as experience in planning compliance and statutory agreements.

James aims to take this knowledge forward and build upon it to gain a fuller and more hands-on knowledge of construction in general. Although he welcomes the challenge of all stages of construction, James particularly enjoys post-contract construction activities, such as working on-site with contractors to agree to valuations and agreeing to variations when they arise. James also enjoys the measurement and production of bills of quantities in the tendering process.

He has previously worked on small- and large-scale residential developments for some of the country’s largest developers but is currently running a small but luxurious zero-carbon development in Cambridgeshire, as well as delivering multiple cost plans and preconstruction stages for our clients.

Outside of work, James enjoys live music and film and working on his cooking skills.
